As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. And helping hands at home are almost always welcome. Here are a few pieces of smart tech that are tremendous helpers in maintaining a tidy home, allowing you to focus on what you value most

A New Generation of Robot Vacuums

Samsung has raised the bar in the robot vacuum market with the Jet Bot AI+ Robot Vacuum with Object Recognition. The days of frustration with robot vacuums that don’t fully pick up messes, run into objects or people, or get jammed trying to pick up items too large to collect are officially over. The Jet Bot AI features a 3D sensor that maps out a room, including all obstacles, to identify which areas to avoid before cleaning.

The Jet Bot features LiDAR sensors that create accurate maps of areas to be cleaned. Mapping can also be controlled by any device running Samsung SmartThings. The Bot features a five-layer filtration system that traps 99.99% of micro dust. An added perk of the Jet Bot is Live Home Monitoring, which allows users to livestream from the device’s front camera via the SmartThings app.

The Jet Bot handles messes with ease thanks to its Intelligent Power Control, optimizing suction in areas where increased power is needed. It also, as most robot vacs do, adjusts between hard floors and carpet.

Self-Cleaning Commodes

Maintaining a sanitized bathroom is often difficult due to bacteria and germs that can infiltrate the space. Kohler has created the Corbelle collection of commodes with ContinuousClean technology, reported to stay clean up to 5x longer than regular toilets due to unique bowl designs and a special CleanCoat™ surface treatment that prevents bacteria, mildew, and mineral deposits from sticking.

The bowl was made to be used with hockey puck-shaped tablets inserted into a designated compartment in the tank. The company states that each cleaning tablet should last up to one year under normal flushing conditions. Though the bowl design, bacteria inhibitors, and included cleaning solutions keep bacteria counts much lower than traditional bowls, Kohler does state their Corbelle products should be fully cleaned occasionally by traditional means.

Professional Clothing Care at Home

With the past few years being precarious in terms of viruses and other illnesses, Samsung has created a solution that provides steam and sanitization at home. The Samsung Bespoke Airdresser Grand Clothing Care System with Steam Refresh provides refreshment for five hangers’ worth of clothing as well as sanitization that eliminates 99% of odors and kills 99% of bacteria.

The unit allows users to dry wet items, such as coats that have been out in the rain or snow, using a sensor that automatically adjusts drying times. Dehumidification – keeping one’s garments (and room!) from becoming damp or musty – is another Airdresser feature designed to keep users’ clothing at its absolute best.

The Airdresser contains a built-in filter, a compartment to add dryer sheets if desired, it can be controlled remotely via the Samsung SmartThings app, and adapts to users’ favorite cycles and settings via AI.

We Do Windows!

Few things please the senses more than gazing out of a sparklingly clean interior window. The HOBOT 388 Window Cleaning Robot promises intuitive, hands-off, streak-free window cleaning – both indoor and outdoor – for the entire home.

The unit secures itself to a window via vacuum suction and applies a fine (15 micrometer) spray of water and/or a specially formulated cleaner to the surface while double rotating microfiber cleaning cloths do the heavy lifting. While not completely wireless, the attached DC cord is strong and secure.

Its vacuum motor lifts dirt and dust from the window while the water and cloths scrub and polish. The unit can be controlled by an Android or iOS app, or via an included remote control. Because the robot uses variable pressure suction, it can easily adapt to changes in pressure and texture.
