What better way to celebrate the holidays than with a home that meets all your needs and operates so smoothly you don’t even have to think about it. You have the freedom to open your doors and your arms for the seasonal festivities. An automated home allows you to shelter, nourish, entertain, and wow your guests with ease. Here is an inside look into the ease of smart-home living during the holidays.
The holiday season transforms our home, into a festive, shiny, elevated rendition of itself. The space is filled with sumptuous smells, warmth, and music echoing nostalgic celebration. We are a couple from different cultures. My family celebrates Christmas, while my husband’s family celebrates Hanukkah. So we bring in relics from both traditions when preparing the decor for holiday festivities.
While Menorah candles don’t require an energy source other than fire, the Christmas tree strand lighting is a different story. However, my smart-home system makes it easy. The lights are tied into our control system. When I leave the house or shut everything down for the night, I can use voice commands or my phone app to turn everything off at the same time. I don’t have to worry about unforeseen incidents or unneeded energy consumption.
Providing luxurious accommodations is my forte and an exciting part of the holiday season. I love knowing my friends and family are settling into a suite resembling a cozy modern boutique hotel. So they feel completely relaxed and welcome. Our guest house includes a detached sitting room and a voice-controlled spa bath of its own, complete with the best smart technology for an uber comfortable stay.
Included in the guest house are a smart mini fridge, coffee maker, and wine dispenser, all stocked and monitored through my control app. When something gets low, I simply send a message to Amazon delivery. The guest bath is equipped with a fill-kit for the soaking tub, so the temperature is always perfect. An intuitive control panel on the wall allows the occupant to adjust the shades, lights, climate, and music of the suite with easy independence. So of course, our guest rooms are always full.
My favorite part of the holidays…entertaining! The festivities keep our home full of friends, family, and merrymaking. This is where the excitement of an automated home really shines through. We don’t find ourselves hurried for anything. When guests arrive, we are alerted, can see them on surveillance cameras, and are able to let them in with voice command. Lighting scenes, music, and entertainment are the fun part. The scenes we set are easily changed throughout the evening to dictate the mood, dimming the lights for candle lighting, and raising them when it is time to exchange gifts. Using voice commands and our control app, we can make simple, quick adjustments in seconds, creating an exquisite atmosphere of celebration.
At the end of an evening, a few taps of our control app effortlessly turns off the lights and music. The doors lock and the security system comes on. This sets my mind at ease, knowing we are all safe inside. Everyone is snug in their beds, without a care, dreaming of sugarplum fairies. I sneak out, pour myself a glass of wine, and start stuffing stockings by the light of the tree.
Happy Holidays!
