Smart technology should fix itself, right? Probably in the near future! But not quite yet. Even the finest technology needs a bit of maintenance every once in a while. Automation is ever-evolving…rapidly. New generations, upgrades, updates…and occasionally the random storm…are cause for attention.
Take a look at how our Miami Beach homeowner keeps up with the occasional neediness of her smart technology.
My home is smart…really smart. It knows me just as well as my personal assistant does. And I have every intention of knowing my home just as well. But alas, I leave that intimate expertise to my smart home team.
When I arrive here in South Florida, no matter the time or the season, all it takes is a single tap on my phone screen…and my security system disarms, the doors unlock, and I walk into a relaxing “coming home” playlist I’ve chosen for the occasion. There are smart lighting scenes, the ability to preheat the oven from the car on the way, light the fire, illuminate the pool…blue even. The technology is mind-blowing. And the options, vast.
I can’t keep up with the new possibilities. I tend to want it all. My smart home guys text me with this new toy or that new capability, I say yes, and they choose which one. Because they know me. My tech style is…let’s call it “uniquely high-maintenance.” But they always make the right decision.
Last year, I was on my way home from the west coast and I got a text on the plane. Apparently, a storm in the area knocked out the electric grid on the island. But the internet and power to my house were already back online. Because my smart home maintenance service ensures my home is being monitored at all times. And the team knows if I’ve lost power before I do. So, my smart guys took care of it within minutes.
The jet landed and I pulled up my Savant system app. All my scenes were ready to go. I turned the lights onto a low candlelight glow, fired up the fireplace, and even started a bath (thank you, Kohler). So upon walking in, I chose a dish from the organic meal delivery service that I love, poured a perfect glass of wine, and melted into my Japanese soaking tub.
My South Florida home welcomes me. It takes care of and nurtures me. While my smart home guys work in the background to ensure everything is performing perfectly at all times.
