As we move forward through the year, many companies are looking ahead to tomorrow, as are architects, designers, and builders. Learn about exciting launches from Ketra, Kaleidescape and Josh.ai, and Sonos, and learn what’s trending in the housing and renovation markets.
Ketra Ready’s New Lines Elevate Every Space
Ketra Ready has introduced a curated selection of lighting options that will be both a joy and delight for architects and designers. The ANGO collection, for example, brings the vibe of Bangkok inside via environmentally responsible and exquisite fixtures sourced from natural fibers like silk, mulberry bark, and rattan. David Trubridge’s collection offers symmetrically fascinating geometric patterns made from non-toxic and sustainable sources. And Stephen Pikus Designs offers upcycled fixtures sourced from around his home in Johannesburg, South Africa. From cozy home designs to large-scale commercial applications, the sky is truly the limit of Ketra Ready’s design potential.
Josh.ai and Kaleidescape’s Transformative Home Theater Experience
Josh.ai has teamed up with Kaleidescape to create a most exhilarating home theater milieu, now offering a fully voice-controlled experience for its users. Kaleidescape and Josh.ai have taken the home theater experience completely out of the hands of users, allowing them, with just a few words, to lower lights, close drapes, drop a screen, and cue up lossless, full-reference films to enjoy. Josh.ai’s power paired with Kaleidescape’s extraordinary video capabilities will provide users with an unparalleled, outstandingly seamless home theater experience. “The ability to watch a Kaleidescape film and customize your movie night with a simple voice command is an exciting and functional new offering for our customers,” Kaleidescape’s CEO Tayloe Stansbury said, “and we are delighted to be partnering with Josh.ai to raise the bar for convenience and immersion in home theaters.”
Home Renovations Expected to Continue in 2023 Despite Economic Uncertainty
Though the market has been decidedly rough since the COVID-19 pandemic began, homeowners are still, and strongly, making investments in and upgrades to their homes, with smart tech advancements a priority, according to a Houzz Inc. study conducted last month. The most striking result from this survey was that more than half of the respondents indicated that they did not plan to leave or sell their homes within twenty years or ever, which nearly assures that these soon-to-be aging homes will require improvements. “With an aging stock nationwide,” Residential Tech Today reported, “system updates including electrical, plumbing, heating, and security are topping the list among those currently updating their homes.”
Sonos’ New Silver Bullet
On November 17, The Verge shared Sonos’ plan to offer an upgraded line of speakers in 2023. Although the details have not yet been released, a line under the current (but possibly not permanent) name Optimo 2 will be released next year, rumored to be the replacement for the flagship Sonos Five speaker. This release is highly anticipated, as it would provide full-spectrum, 360-degree sound in a shape not yet seen before in Sonos products.
Upcoming CEDIA Tech Summits
CEDIA is offering two Tech Summits before 2022 draws to a close. These one-day events showcase upcoming technology and future trends in the home tech industry, provide education via informative seminars, and provide professionals opportunities to meet and network with their peers. The first Summit will take place on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Tampa, Florida. The last Tech Summit of the year will take place on Thursday, December 8, in Fort Lauderdale.
